LOCKEasked the Secretary of State for War, Whether the Government intend to withdraw the subsidy granted to the Channel Islands Militia should the authorities in the Islands be unprepared with proposals for the re-organization of the force, in accordance with the recent Circular issued for that purpose by Her Majesty's Minister at War, such proposals having to be returned before the expiration of the year 1874?
MR. GATHORNE HARDY,in reply, said, that the Governors of Jersey and Guernsey had been informed that unless they put their Militia on a proper footing the Grant for the re-organization of the force would be withdrawn. They had recently been requested to send in their proposals before the 1st of October this year, and until he had these proposals before him he could not state what the intentions of the Government were.
