HC Deb 30 April 1874 vol 218 cc1407-8
MR. WILBRAHAM EGERTON

asked the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, What steps have been taken under the Treaty of Commerce to obtain from the French Government a reduction of the Duties on the importation of British Salt into France?

MR. BOURKE

I am well aware. Sir, that this is a Question in which my hon. Friend's constituents take a great-interest. It is now the subject of negotiation between Her Majesty's Government and the French Government. It would not be expedient to lay Papers before Parliament at present; but I can assure my hon. Friend that the matter is receiving the best attention of the Foreign Office.
