asked the Secretary to the Treasury, If he can state whether any and what steps have been taken by the Treasury with respect to the making a calendar of English Public Records relating to Ireland?

MR. BAXTER,

in reply, said, the following steps had been taken to carry out the matter referred to by the right hon. Gentleman. On the 30th of November last the Treasury sanctioned the employment of Mr. Sweetman to compile a calendar of all instruments and entries relating to Ireland from the earliest time to the end of the reign of Henry VII., and Mr. Sweetman had been employed upon the work since the 1st of April.
