HC Deb 18 March 1872 vol 210 cc117-8
MR. LOCKE

said, he gave Notice of his Question on the subject of the Government Licensing Bill last Thursday, but on the following day it was partially answered by the Home Secretary, in answer to a Question put to him by the hon. Member for Leeds (Mr. Wheelhouse). He now wished to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he has prepared a Licensing Bill; and, if so, when he intends to introduce it; and, whether his attention has been called to a paragraph in the "Morning Advertiser" of the 13th instant, purporting to be copied from the "Newcastle Daily Chronicle," stating the provisions in a Bill already printed by the Government, and Copies of which are alleged to have been furnished to a privileged few?

MR. BRUCE

Sir, a measure has been prepared upon the subject of the Question, but owing to the state of the Business of the House, I regret that I am unable to say at what time it will be introduced. With respect to the latter part of the Question, I have already said that the report is entirely false.
