HC Deb 15 July 1872 vol 212 cc1127-8
MAJOR ARBUTHNOT

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether any decision has been arrived at as to the Depôt Centre of the district in which the county of Hereford will be included; and, whether any inspection of the various sites proposed has been made; and, if not, whether a final decision on the subject may be postponed until the respective qualifications of the several cities and towns eligible for the purpose shall have been reported upon?

MR. CARDWELL

The Committee have reported generally, and their preference is for Worcester. Reports are now about to be called for from officers of Royal Engineers upon the detailed arrangements of the scheme in each district, so as to enable the Committee to arrive at their final conclusion. Until these Reports shall have been revised and considered, no decision can be regarded as absolutely final.
