CARDWELLSir, there are 1,276 Volunteer corps. 750 claims for capitation allowance for the current year 1871–2 have been paid; 240 claims are 1985 in course of payment, and will be paid within the next eight days. The remainder—286 corps—of the claims will be paid on receipt of the necessary forms of application.
