HC Deb 25 April 1871 vol 205 c1689
MAJOR ARBUTHNOT

asked the Secretary of State for War, Whether the Colonels of Artillery to be appointed to districts, in connection with the new Reserve Organization, are to have Adjutants; and, if so, from what rank such Adjutants are to be selected?

CAPTAIN VIVIAN

Sir, it will be unnecessary to make new appointments of the character referred to in the hon. and gallant Officer's Question, as the permanent staff of the Reserve forces is already very numerous, and will probably supply any required assistance to the colonels who will be appointed to districts. It is eventually intended that the adjutants of the Reserve artillery should be taken from the officers of the Royal Artillery.
