HC Deb 01 July 1870 vol 202 c1305
SIR FREDERICK W. HEYGATE

said, he would beg to ask the hon. Member for Belfast, Whether he intends to persevere with the Municipal Franchise (Ireland) Bill at this period of the Session?

MR. W. JOHNSTON

, in reply, said, he found that he should not have the assistance of the Government in endeavouring to lower the municipal franchise to the level of the Parliamentary rating occupation franchise, and as he was also aware that the Bill would be opposed from his own side of the House, he would state that it was not his intention at that late period of the Session to proceed further with the measure.
