HC Deb 21 February 1870 vol 199 c591
MR. VERNON HARCOURT

said, he would beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether, now that the Irish Land Bill and the Education Bill have passed through their first stages, he is in a position to name an early day for the introduction of a Bill to repeal Religious Tests in the Universities?

MR. GLADSTONE

, in reply, said, he could not at present name a day for the introduction of the Bill referred to by his hon. and learned Friend, but he would do so as soon as possible. Until there was a reasonable prospect of their being able to proceed with the ulterior stages of the Bill, there would be no advantage in bringing it in.
