HC Deb 11 April 1870 vol 200 c1606
MR. BOURKE

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether the attention of Government has been called to a Letter addressed by the Clerk of Assize on the North Wales Circuit to the Treasurer of the county of Denbigh, on the subject of disallowances made by the Treasury in respect of trials at the Spring Assizes of 1869; and, whether Her Majesty's Government are of opinion that the principle upon which these disallowances have been made ought to be adhered to?

MR. BRUCE

replied that the Treasury was the Department intrusted with the consideration of such charges as those referred to in the hon. Member's Question. He had, however, made inquiry respecting this matter, and found that though the Clerk of Assize had every opportunity of expostulating with reference to this disallowance no such expostulation had been offered.
