§ MR. H. A. HERBERTsaid, he wished to ask the First Commissioner of Works, Whether, in accordance to the promise of the late Commissioner of Works, any and what steps are to be taken for the improvement in the comfort of the Ladies' Gallery, and whether a tea room will be added?
§ MR. AYRTONsaid, in reply, that the question of making improvements in the Houses of Parliament was under the consideration of a Committee upstairs, and Her Majesty's Government therefore deferred submitting any special Vote with reference to the Houses of Parliament until that Committee had made its Report. As soon as that Report had been made it would be his duty to submit to Her Majesty's Government a proposal to give effect to the wishes expressed on the question, in a manner which he trusted would be satisfactory. He hoped there would not be only a tea room but a toilette room.
