§ MR. STEPHEN CAVE, in moving for leave to bring in a Bill to amend the Law relating to Life Insurance Companies, said, he proposed to extend to Life Insurance Companies the provisions enacted by Parliament last year with respect to Railway Companies and the fuller publication of their accounts.
§ MR. KINNAIRDthanked the right hon. Gentleman for the course he had taken, believing that no Bill that could be introduced this Session would confer greater benefit upon a class which the House was bound in every way to protect.
§ MR. H. B. SHERIDANobserved that any well-considered measure on the subject would be supported by the Life Insurance Companies themselves.
§ MR. BARNETTexpressed his regret that the provisions of the Joint Stock Companies Act of 1844 had not been made more use of in similar cases.
