HC Deb 19 March 1868 vol 190 c1892
MR. WHITBREAD

said, he would beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, Whether he can inform the House on what day the House will adjourn for the Easter Recess?

MR. DISRAELI

Sir, I am very anxious to consult the convenience of the House, but the progress of Public Business must not be forgotten. That progress at present is not in so satisfactory a state as I could desire, and I fear I must ask the House to sit in Passion Week, which I much regret. ["No, no!"] I do not see how it is to be avoided; but I will ask the hon. Gentleman to repeat his inquiry on a subsequent occasion.
