said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, Whe- ther the Government have arrived at any decision on the recommendations of the Select Committee of last Session relative to retirements from the Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers, and Royal Marines?

SIR JOHN PAKINGTON

, in reply, said, he was not then prepared to give a conclusive answer to the hon. Gentleman's Question. He had, however, given very careful consideration to the recommendations of the Committee, and he hoped shortly to be able to state to the House the decision of the Government upon them.
