§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERsaid, he had received a communication from his hon. Friend on this subject, pointing out the inaccuracy, with which he had not been previously acquainted. Perhaps the best explanation he could give would be to produce the original passage as sent to the printer on the authority of a gentleman known by the House, and whose word would be at once taken as a voucher for the truth of the statement—he meant Mr. Grieve, who draughted the Bill. There would be no objection to make the correction when an opportunity offered.
