PEASEsaid, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether the attention of Her Majesty's Government has been drawn to the evils arising from the fact that a separate jurisdiction exists for granting Licences for the retail sale of Spirits, Beer, and Wine; and, whether Her Majesty's Government propose to bring in a Bill to place the granting of these Licences under one jurisdiction?
§ MR. WALPOLEThe matter, Sir, referred to by the hon. Gentleman has been 1308 brought under the notice of Her Majesty's Government in a vast variety of forms, in the several different applications made to the Home Office on the subject. Some particular applications are at this moment under the consideration of Her Majesty's Government; but until they have all been thoroughly examined, I am not prepared to state to the House what course the Government will take.
