HC Deb 04 April 1867 vol 186 cc1106-7
MAJOR JERVIS

said, he wished to ask the Vice President of the Committee of Council for Education, Whether it is the intention of Her Majesty's Government to introduce a Bill to regulate the importation of foreign cattle into this country?

LORD ROBERT MONTAGU

replied, that a Bill had been prepared on the subject of the cattle plague, which would shortly be laid on the table. Its object was to continue the Acts of last Session, which would expire in August next, and to remedy some defects which experience had shown to exist in those Acts; and also to embody Orders in Council, in order that they might at any time be put locally in force.
