HC Deb 26 July 1866 vol 184 c1529
ADMIRAL WALCOTT

said, he wished to ask the First Commissioner of Works, as to the present progress towards completion of the four lions destined to perfect and ornament the base of the Nelson Column, and the probable time when this National testimony to the services of that late great and heroic Admiral may attain completion?

LORD JOHN MANNERS,

in reply, said, he was happy to be able to state that two of the lions were already completed in bronze, another was on the eve of completion, and there was every reason to hope that by the end of the autumn the four lions would be established in their proper places.
