HC Deb 03 August 1866 vol 184 c2034
MR. NEATE

said, he wished to ask the President of the Poor Law Board, Whether he has considered the expediency of obtaining before the prorogation of Parliament an Act to enable the Treasury to make advances on the security of the parochial or district rates to Boards of Guardians or Local Boards of Health, to provide against the outbreak of the cholera?

MR. GATHORNE HARDY

Sir, I have not deemed it expedient to introduce this Session a Bill such as that to which the hon. Gentleman refers, nor have I received any application from any quarter tending to show that there is any necessity for making a provision from the public funds as he suggests.
