HC Deb 15 May 1865 vol 179 cc292-3
SIR FREDERICK HEYGATE

said, he would beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade, Whether his attention has been called to the fact that, on two occasions during the past two years, the main shaft of one of the Dublin and Holyhead Mail Steamers has broken, whereby the ship became unmanageable, and the passengers and crew exposed to considerable danger; and if any inspection of these ships and machinery has taken place in consequence?

MR. MILNER GIBSON

, in reply, said, it was true that there had been the accident which the hon. Baronet had referred to, but an examination had since been made, and the vessel reported to be in a satisfactory condition.
