said, he would beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer, If the allowance paid to the Fire Insurance Companies of the United Kingdom, for collecting the existing Duty, is to be abolished; and, if not, whether the present rate of allowance is to be revised, with a view of altering the same to meet the reduction of duty proposed by the Government?

, in reply, said, it was proposed that the allowance to the Fire Insurance Companies, in the shape of a percentage upon the duties collected by them, should remain exactly as it was at present—namely, 4 per cent in one class, and 5 per cent in the other.
