HC Deb 23 February 1865 vol 177 cc599-600
MR. BLACK

asked the Lord Advocate, If the penalty which is incurrable by the Medical Practitioners of Scotland, under the 41st Section of the Act 17 &c 18 Vict., c. 80, is repealed by the 14th Section of the Act 23 &24 Viet, c. 83; and, if not, does he intend to take the necessary steps to procure a repeal of that enactment, and so place the Medical Practitioners in Scotland on a footing of equality with the Medical Practitioners in England and Ireland?

THE LORD ADVOCATE

In regard to the first part of the Question, I have to answer my hon. Friend, that the clause he refers to is not repealed, though the stringency of the penalty has been considerably relaxed. In regard to the latter part of the Question, I beg to say that I do not propose to introduce any measure on the subject.
