§ COLONEL GREVILLEsaid, he wished to ask the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether it is the intention of the Government to separate the County Meath from the Mullingar District Lunatic Asylum, which affords ample accommodation for the dangerous lunatics of the three counties; and, if so, whether the whole burden of its support will be imposed upon the counties of Westmeath and Longford?
§ SIR ROBERT PEELsaid, in reply, that the matter had been for some time under the consideration of the Irish Government, but no definite course had yet been decided upon. The Government were anxious to do that which would be most agreeable he counties themselves, and for that purpose had communicated with the Grand Juries of the counties of Meath, 1251 Wicklow, and Louth, in order that the question might be satisfactorily discussed at the ensuing assizes.
