HC Deb 20 April 1864 vol 174 c1397

Order for Second Reading read.

Moved, "That the Bill be now read a second time."—(Mr. Charles Forster.)

THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

said, this was a Bill requiring much consideration in order to see whether amendments in the law could be introduced with advantage. The measure was one which, in its present form, could not be accepted with out further inquiry, and he therefore asked the hon. Member who had charge of it to postpone the second reading.

MR. CHARLES FORSTER

said, that having already once postponed this Bill to meet the convenience of the Government, he had not expected to be called upon to postpone it again. However, at that late period of the afternoon, he had no alternative but to accede to the suggestion which had been made.

Second Reading deferred till Wednes day, 15th June.
