HC Deb 11 February 1862 vol 165 c134
MR. DAWSON

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland, Whether it was the intention of the Government to introduce, during the present Session, any measures for effecting a proper registration of births, deaths, and marriages in Ireland, and for the alteration of the present law affecting the solemnization of marriage in that part of the United Kingdom?

SIR ROBERT PEEL

said, it was the intention of the Government to introduce, in the course of the present Session, a Bill for the proper registration of births and deaths in Ireland. With regard to the registration of marriages, that question was under the consideration of the Government, and he had no doubt that upon an early day he should be able to state what course would be taken in regard to it.
