HC Deb 02 May 1861 vol 162 cc1377-8
MAJOR EDWARD'S

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Whether he has any intention to increase the number of Sub-Inspectors of Factories in the event of the Bleach Works Bill coming into force previous to the passing of the proposed Government Lace Works Bill; and whether he has yet received the opinion of the Inspectors of Factories with regard to an increase of the staff of Sub-Inspectors, and if he has any objection to lay the Correspondence upon the Table?

SIR GEORGE LEWIS

replied that he had not yet received the opinions of the Inspectors of Factories with regard to an increase of the staff of Sub-Inspectors; but he thought it was not impossible that some small increase in their number might be recommended.
