HC Deb 11 March 1861 vol 161 cc1716-7
SIR FREDERIC SMITH

said, he would beg to ask the Secretary of State for India, Whether the Royal Military College at Addiscombe is to be abolished in June next, or at any other time during the present year; and, if not, under what conditions it is to be retained?

SIR CHARLES WOOD

said, there was a considerable number of Artillery Cadets at Addiscombe preparatory to their going to Woolwich. There was also a certain number of old Indian Cadets who would be probably there until June. The College would still remain, until other arrangements were made, as a preparatory school for Engineer and Artillery Cadets, who were ultimately to proceed to Woolwich.
