HC Deb 25 April 1861 vol 162 c1059
MR. T. DUNCOMBE

said, he rose to ask for Copies of any Diplomatic Communications by which the now reigning Emperor of Austria, Francis Joseph, notified to the English Government his accession to power, together with any communications or Copy of the Act of Abdication of his predecessor in December, 1848.

LORD JOHN RUSSELL

said, that he believed there were no other communications on the subject than such as had already been laid before Parliament. There was a communication addressed by Prince Schwartzenberg, then Minister of Foreign Affairs in Austria, to Lord Ponsonby, our Minister at Vienna, which was laid before Parliament on the 15th August, 1850. If there was any other document in the possession of Her Majesty's Government, they would have no objection to produce it.

MR. T. DUNCOMBE

asked what was the date of the communication announcing the abdication of the late Emperor of Austria?

LORD JOHN RUSSELL

December 2, 1848

Motion, by leave, withdrawn.
