said, he would beg to inquire of the Government, Whether there is any truth in the report of the sinking of two English frigates, the Dove and Algerine, by the guns of the forts on the Peiho river?

LORD CLARENCE PAGET

said, that a despatch had been received from Admiral Hope, dated Hong-Kong, March 15, in which it was stated that the Sampson had arrived, and that the day before she was in company with the two vessels reported to be sunk. Therefore, there was no reason to suppose that the report in question was founded in truth.
