HC Deb 26 March 1858 vol 149 c813
SIR JAMES ELPHINSTONE

said, he wished to inquire of the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is the intention of the Government to review the position of the Officers of the Dock-yards and Victualling Yards as regards their scale of superannuations, or to adopt any measures founded upon the Report of the Superannuation Commissioners, 1857?

SIR FRANCIS BARING

said, he would beg, before the right hon. Gentleman answered the question just put, to ask another, namely—whether the Government have had under their consideration the recommendation that the scale of wages paid to persons employed in the Dockyards should be revised, and, if so, whether they have come to any determination on that subject?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

Sir, the Report of the Commission, which was laid upon the table of the House last year, is at present under the consideration of the Treasury, and that consideration is not limited to the case of the officers only, but extends to all other classes employed in those establishments.
