§ MR. P. O'BRIENsaid, be had given notice of his intention to call the attention of Her Majesty's Government to the inexpediency of maintaining the large Naval Force at present employed upon the West Coast of Africa and on the West Indian Waters for the suppression of the Slave Trade, a question which was at the present time of absorbing importance. But he had been told by gentlemen of great experience and authority on both sides of the House that this was a question of too great importance to be brought forward on the Motion for the adjournment of the House, and with this explanation he would beg to withdraw his Notice.
