§ MAJOR SIBTHORPsaid, he wished to ask the Under Secretary for War whether it is true that large quantities of gunpowder are stored in various places in the immediate neighbourhood and town of Waltham Abbey, and, if so, whether they are to remain there; also, if it is true that any parties connected with the Government have threatened with instant dismissal any of the workmen or others at the mills if they divulged anything relative to the quantity of gunpowder stored there?
§ SIR JOHN RAMSDENsaid, he could assure the hon. and gallant Member that there was now no gunpowder stored in the town or immediate neighbourhood of Waltham Abbey; and that it was entirely untrue that any Government official had been threatened with instant dismissal for divulging anything connected with the subject.
