THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERsaid, this Bill had not yet been printed; but it simply empowered the Go- 1282 vernment to raise the funds necessary for giving effect to the Convention with Sardinia. The clauses were not likely to give rise to any discussion; but if any hon. Member wished to address the House upon the subject, he would have an opportunity of doing so on going into Committee. Under these circumstances he hoped the House would agree to the second reading now.
