HC Deb 16 February 1849 vol 102 cc755-6
MR. J. O'CONNELL

rose to ask the Secretary for Ireland, whether it was the intention of Her Majesty's Government to act on the recommendation of the Select Committee appointed last Session— To consider and report upon the state and operation of the laws respecting Ministers' Money in Ireland, and to report whether any and what amendments in those laws would be expedient, and whether any and what fund may be rendered available for the purposes to which Ministers' Money is now applied"— and whether the Government intend, according to the said recommendation, to bring in a Bill for the Abolition of Ministers' Money; and if so, at what period of the Session?

SIR W. SOMERVILLE

replied, that the subject was receiving the greatest consideration; but he could not promise that all the recommendations of the Committee would be carried into effect.
