, who had a motion on the paper to the effect that "every year a statement should be made to the House by a responsible minister, on the state and prospects of the education of the people," said, that he had been most anxious to bring this subject before the House, but after the debate that evening, he would not at present press his motion.

House adjourned at a quarter to one o'clock.
