HC Deb 20 May 1842 vol 63 c597
Mr. Roebuck

moved the first reading of a bill which had come down from the House of Lords. It was entitled, An act for further inquiry into bribery at elections of Members to serve in Parliament. In moving that it be read a first time, he should take that opportunity of saying that he had two strings to his bow, and should go on with the bill of which he himself had given notice, although its object might, he had little doubt, be attained by adding one or two words to the bill then before the House.

Bill read a first time.
