HC Deb 09 March 1842 vol 61 c303
Mr. E. Ellice

wished to remind the right hon. Baronet at the head of the Government of the question he had asked a few nights since, as to the intentions of her Majesty's Ministers with regard to Sir Ed ward Parry's report on the Caledonian Canal. He should be glad to know if the Government had come to a resolution to adopt the suggestions contained in that document.

Sir R. Peel

said, he had arrived at the conclusion that it would be preferable to refer the report in question to a committee of the House, and to have the opinion of that committee on the subject of it, before they attempted to legislate.

The committee would be appointed immediately.
