HC Deb 17 July 1837 vol 38 c1924

The Commons were summoned to attend her Majesty in the House of Peers.

The Speaker and the Members present immediately proceeded, in obedience to this summons to the House of Lords.

After the lapse of some time the Speaker returned, and taking his seat at the table of the House, read her Majesty's Speech for the prorogation of the present Parliament, after which the Members retired.

Parliament was dissolved by proclamation on the same evening, and a new one summoned, which was finally ordered to assemble on November 15th.
