HC Deb 01 February 1832 vol 9 c1097
Sir Robert Peel

wished to put a question to the noble Lord opposite as to a measure which had been announced in his Majesty's Speech at the commencement of the Session. He wished to know whether the Government were prepared with any measures for the improvement of the Municipal Police in the cities and large towns of the kingdom, which at present were not properly provided for in that respect, and when such measures would be brought forward.

Lord Althorp

said, that measures of that nature had been under the consideration of his Majesty's Ministers, but that he could not, at present, say that they were in such a state of maturity that Government was prepared to bring them forward.
