Definition

• Introduced September 1994. Includes from April 1996 Accelerated modern apprenticeships. From March 2000 programme divided into Advanced modern apprenticeships and Foundation modern apprenticeships (formerly called National traineeships). In May 2004 the name Modern apprenticeships ceased to be used. Apprenticeships provision then divided into 3 categories: Young apprenticeships; Apprenticeships; Advanced apprenticeships.
