Scope note
  • From 2009 private sector tenants are in receipt of Local housing allowance rather than Housing benefit. From April 2016, new social rented sector tenants are also in receipt of Local housing allowance. For comparison of the rates of both benefits, or transition between them, OK to use both terms (advice from Wendy Wilson in March 2017).
