Definition

• Established as one of four regional committees by the National Assembly of Wales in July 1999, covering Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Torfaen and the Vale of Glamorgan. In April 2005 the Assembly created five new regional committees and South East Wales was split between South Wales East and South Wales Central.
