Scope note

• For Brexit sectoral analysis papers requested by the House and published in December 2017, use Economic analysis. Members are also referring to these as impact assessments, but ministers are consistent about insisting these are not impact assessments.

Definition

• Formerly known as Compliance cost assessments and Regulatory impact assessments. New IA format was introduced on 14 May 2007 and the RIA was replaced from November 2007.

• N.B. Includes Env IAs and Equality IAs. Equality IAs are no longer a regulatory requirement, however, when undertaken, they are presented as IAs on gov.uk. For this reason Deps indexers will continue to tag EIAs as IAs (04/03/2015).
