Definition

• To provide formal education for excluded pupils. Known as "short stay schools" in some areas.

History note

• Decided to make "Short stay schools" a non-preferred form (13/04/2015, rulings review); they refer to themselves as a type of pupil referral unit. Seems to be quite arbitrary as to what local authorities call their facilities. Initially suggested that all PRUs become short stay schools, but this hasn't happened.
