Definition

• Makes decisions in relation to the property and affairs, healthcare and general welfare of adults who lack capacity. The Court also has the power to decide whether someone has the capacity to make a particular decision. Formerly some functions were carried out by the Office of the Public Guardian, but moved to HM Courts Service from 1 April 2009 (WS 15 July 2009 at c32WS).
