Definition
  • Committee with an unlimited membership which considers the committee stage of a Bill away from the Floor of the House. Any Bill may be sent to a Grand Committee and the proceedings are identical to those in a Committee of the Whole House except that no votes may take place. Grand Committees may also consider motions on affirmative and negaitve instruments, the reports of select committees and others, general motions for debate, questions for short debate and debates on proposals for national policy statements.
