Definition
- Introduced under the Criminal Justice Act 2003 with pilots starting in January 2004. Enables prisoners to serve part-time a custodial sentence of less than 12 months, thus retaining contact with family, jobs and community. Can be either weekend or weekday custody depending on personal circumstances.
