- Established in 2001, by the merger of the collections of the old Wales Film and Television Archive with The National Library of Wales' Sound and Moving Image collection. The Archive is funded by The Library and Sgrîn - the Media Agency for Wales. (Sgrîn was dissolved March 2006, but National Library gained ownership of Sgrîn material).
