Definition

• In May 2008, the separate Boards for Conwy and Denbighshire merged to become the Conwy and Denbighshire Local Safeguarding Children Board. LSCBs came into being on the 1st October 2006 as a requirement under the Children Act 2004, and replaced the Area Child Protection Committees which had been in place since 1996. The LSCB is the statutory body responsible for protecting children and young people from significant harm and for promoting their welfare.
