| 1948 — 28th April | 49 Adjournment of House to facilitate business of standing committees |
(1) In order to facilitate the business of standing committees a motion may, after two days' notice, be made by a minister of the crown at the commencement of public business, in either of the following forms:- (2) (a) " That this House do now adjourn " (in which case, if the question thereon be not previously agreed to, Mr. Speaker shall put the question half an hour after it has been proposed), or (3) (b) " That this House do now adjourn till seven of the clock this day " (in which case the question thereon shall be decided without amendment or debate): (4) Provided that if, on a day on which a motion in the terms of paragraph (a) of this order stands on the paper, leave has been given to move the adjournment of the House for the purpose of discussing a definite matter of urgent public importance, or opposed private business has been set down by direction of the chairman of ways and means, the motion shall be moved in the terms and subject to the procedure prescribed by paragraph (b) of this standing order. |
